CHRIS BIRCH - ELDER

Chris spends the working week as a software developer within the pensions industry and whilst that might sound hugely uninteresting and dull he tells us he loves aspects of his job and hanging out with other socially awkward individuals in a confined space with no natural light staring at computer screens for hours on end! Chris is in his 30’s and has been with the church since its inception back in 2015 taking on a role on the Eldership in 2016. He has responsibility for overseeing the running of the Church’s Life Groups along with fellow Elder Andy Wyatt, himself runs a Life Group and helps out in various other aspects of the running of the Church. He has a passion for serving the Church through helping people see and understand the deep mysteries and truths of the Gospel in new and impactful ways that people may marvel and be changed as they more deeply behold our God as seen most clearly in the person of Christ. His other interests and pass times include, being a nerd (which he tells us he excels at), watching and playing football (increasingly watching over playing), mountaineering and messing around in his garden. His favourite novel is probably Lord of the Rings (though he hastens to add that it attained such a status prior to the release of the popular film franchise popularising the novels) and his favourite film Forrest Gump – which is always guaranteed to leave him a sobbing mess by the end but which he loves for the way it (amongst other things) reveals, subtly, yet incredibly poignantly, the importance of peoples hearts and motives over pure ideas or ideologies.
